How do I find a supervisor?

Finding a professor eligible and willing to act as scientific advisor as well as initiating the necessary contact lies within your personal responsibility. Administrative offices at UZH cannot be of assistance.

Does the scholarship application include a PhD application at the University?

No, please note that the application procedure for the scholarship and the application procedure for a PhD at the University of Zurich are two different and individual processes. Detailed information on the PhD application and admission can be found here.

What is the amount of a Swiss Government Scholarship?

For PhD and research scholarships the monthly payment amounts to CHF 1920.-

For postdoctoral scholarships the monthly payment amounts to CHF 3500.-

Additionally:

  • Tuition fees are waived
  • Mandatory Swiss health insurance for Non-EU/EFTA scholarship holders with premiums paid by FCS
  • One-time payment of CHF 300 housing allowance at the beginning of the scholarship
  • Half-fare transportation card (Swiss Railway) for one year
  • Non-European scholarship holders receive a lump sum for the airfare provided at the end of their scholarship
