The University of Zurich regularly organizes Staff Week to welcome colleagues from other universities to learn more about the University of Zurich and to spend valuable time with their peers to share best practice in their field of work. The next UZH Staff Week is scheduled to take place in 2020.
From 4 - 7 February 2019 the fourth UZH Staff Week took place covering three interesting topics: Information Management, Integrating the Sustainable Development Goals in Universities and Quality Management in Education and Teaching.

Information Management at Universities
We explored and discussed information management issues at universities, with a particular focus on discussing best practice in archiving and electronic records management.
This part of the Staff Week was organized by The University of Zurich's Archive Unit, which manages records for administration, research and the general public.
Integrating the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Universities
We explored how universities can strengthen their commitment towards society and their contribution to sustainable development.
This part of the Staff Week was organized by the International Relations Office (Sara Elmer, Program Manager North-South) in collaboration with the University of Zurich's Sustainability Team (Clemens Mader, Research Associate).
Quality Management in Education and Teaching
During the UZH Staff Week, we discussed best practice regarding:
- approval procedures for new study programs (criteria, peer counseling and decision-making)
- data gathering and presentation of management information;
- annual quality meetings: defining measures, taking action;
- strategic reporting and decision-making;
- preparation of an institutional accreditation.
This part of the program was organized by the Academic Program Development Unit, which is responsible for the quality management system in education and teaching at the University of Zurich.
The number of participants is limited to 30 with a maximum of 2 people per institution. The selection will be made according to three criteria:
- Level of interest and rationale for taking part in this Staff Week
- Area of work is relevant to the topics offered during this Staff Week
- Employed at a partner institution of UZH
The program is free of charge for employees of a European University. UZH will cover the costs for coffee breaks, lunches, the welcome dinner and accommodation for four nights. Accommodation will be organized by the University of Zurich.
Travel costs will be refunded according to the Erasmus+ distance calculatorbetween the home institution and UZH.

- 2000-2999 km = CHF 440
- > 3000 km = CHF 600
Our next Staff Week is scheduled to take place in 2020. We will publish all information regarding the application procedure here as soon as it is available.
