Berlin has always been of great importance to the University of Zurich. Since 2006, the University of Zurich has enjoyed an institutionalized exchange with the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the University of Vienna. The meetings take a strategic focus and center around topics of university management, benchmarking and institutional learning. In addition, there has been very active student exchange between the University of Zurich and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin for many years. In August 2019, Professor Michael O. Hengartner, President of the University of Zurich, and Professor Sabine Kunst, President of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, signed a strategic partnership agreement, to underline the long-standing collaboration between the two universities and the significance of the link between the two cities, Berlin and Zurich.
